What you pay for
Band recording with us includes engineer, live room, patching and monitoring — no per-musician room hire. The hourly rate is €125; a half day (4 hours) is €440 and a full day (8 hours) is €820, prices include 21% VAT. Net for business clients: €677.69 per day.
Our live room is 42 m²; we work with up to 6 musicians at once in one session. More players usually means overdubs or a second day — plan ahead rather than losing time on the floor.
Live versus overdubs
Recording fully live is energetic but needs tight arrangements and good isolation. Drums in the room, bass direct or via DI, guitars with small amps — that fits our space when everyone knows their parts. Structural or tempo mistakes cost takes.
Overdubs save time when you lay drums and bass first, then guitar and vocals. You still pay per hour or day, but with fewer setup changes and less bleed. Discuss your approach via contact; see Band recording for what is included by default.
Time per song
As a rough guide: a simple song with a prepared band can have a usable base in two to four hours; a complex track with tempo shifts or many overdubs fills a half day quickly. Tuning and miking drums alone takes time — bring sticks, heads and tuning you trust.
Do not plan eight songs in one day unless demo quality is enough. Many Amsterdam bands choose €440 for one single or two tracks, and save a full day for EP recording. Mix (Mixing from €185 per song) and master (Mastering) are separate from studio hours.
Booking, deposit and cancellation
When booking we ask for a 30% deposit on the quote. Free cancellation is possible up to 7 days before the session; after that terms and conditions apply. Business clients with a VAT number can pay on invoice within 14 days after delivery when agreed.
We usually reply within 2 business days. Opening hours: Monday–Friday 10:00–22:00, Saturday 11:00–18:00. Closed on Sundays and public holidays.. Minimum age in the studio is 16; younger musicians only with supervision and prior agreement.
Travel and logistics in Amsterdam
Tram 1 or 7: stop Overtoom (towards the city centre). Walk about three minutes west along Overtoom; the entrance is on street level beside the large windows. From Amsterdam Zuid station: metro 52 or tram 1 towards the centre, exit at Overtoom. On-street paid parking only; no private car park. There is no private car park; bands with lots of gear sometimes use a short loading spot or a helper with a van. Tram 1 or 7 to Overtoom suits many members; from Amsterdam Zuid take metro 52 or tram 1 towards the centre.
Include load-in in your session time: the drum kit is often ready, but amps and bass setup take twenty to forty minutes if you change a lot. Send an instrument and amp list in advance so we prepare DIs and space.
Sample budgets (indicative)
| Scenario | Time | Studio (incl. VAT) |
|---|---|---|
| Single, live, well rehearsed | 4 hours | €440 |
| EP 4 tracks, overdub plan | 2× full day | 2× €820 |
| Extra hour drum fine-tuning | +1 hour | €125 |
These are examples, not fixed packages. Actual time depends on rehearsal, arrangement and breaks.
What to bring
Instruments in playing condition, spare strings, sticks, finger tape, tuners and any must-have pedals. We provide cables, DIs, headphones and basic backline; very specific amp sounds should be discussed upfront.
Bring a shared playlist or references (without expecting us to copy anyone — tone and dynamics are the point). After recording we keep multitracks for 24 months; download your files and read delivery formats before mixing.
